Laurie Sadler, MD

Dr. Sadler is a board certified general internist who at the age of 61 years of age, decided to go back to school to study Functional Medicine, a discipline she wishes she studied nearly 35 years ago.

Dr. Sadler was graduated from John Carroll University with a major in Biological Chemistry in 1983. She then matriculated from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1988. Her career spanned over thirty years of academic internal medicine, private practice, and later clinical research in hypertension, diabetes and lipids, working with the National Institutes Of Health and Case Western School of Medicine. During these years, her focus was quality teaching of residents and students, the advancement of translational research and the exemplary care of patients, many of them underserved.

She has been so very fortunate 'shadowing' Dr. Sprecher since June of 2024, learning the art of functional medicine in action. She has greatly appreciated and benefitted from Dr. Sprecher's decades of functional medicine excellence.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Sadler recently received certification from The Institute for Functional Medicine and now joins Dr. Sprecher at the NEO Institute for Functional Medicine. She now joins the growing list of certified practitioners of only 2500 certified functional medicine practitioners worldwide.

Dr. Sadler is happily married to Alex Szilvas for over 37 years and is the proud mother to three young women, ages 30, 27 and 23. She is active in her faith which informs and guides her. She loves to run, walk, hike, play all sports, and any other outdoor activity. She is animal lover who is mom to two adorable labradoodles, Theodore (Teddy) and Eloise (Ellie); In addition, she is Grandma to a cat named Finn and a current rescue kitty who has won her heart, recently named Binx.

She is thrilled to be practicing the functional medicine approach to patient care because she believes it is what is needed at this moment in patient care- holistic care of patients. She is inspired by the compassionate, skilled, insightful trailblazers that began to develop this approach over thirty years ago-a more wholesome, root cause systems biology approach. Her love for medicine has only strengthened during her career and to practice functional medicine together with internal medicine is a dream come true.

She has already met many of the NEOIFM's patients, and she looks forward to serving them for years to come.
