Hey Everyone,
I just want you to know I am thinking of you and wishing you all an abundance of Grace during this unusual time. I think it is interesting as we enter this new decade, 2020, that we have been given this time of pause to reflect on the spirit or connotation associated with the concept of “20-20.” You know the old saying “Hindsight is 20-20.” I find myself using this time to contemplate how blessed we are to have all these modern conveniences like toilet paper and paper towels. As these items become sparse on our grocery shelves, I imagine what life would be like without them. The next thing I know I am carefully allotting the amount I tear off and using them more frugally. At the same time, I am sending out a little prayer of gratitude for all our modern-day conveniences. We have come so far over the last 100 years as a culture with all our modern conveniences. I think this is an excellent time to pause and appreciate the little things that are so easy to take for granted in the day to day busy-ness of our lives. Just that simple act of pausing and being more grateful and aware can add a tremendous force of Grace to our current situation. Instead of focusing on the fear of the unknown we can redirect it toward appreciation for this pause. Many of us are spending more time in our homes, that gives us an opportunity to reflect on our lives and how we might want to remodel certain aspects to assure we make time for the things that are truly important. Whether that remodel is in the physical manifestation of our home or in the structure and behavior of our day to day lives. I am excited to see people enjoying nature and parents spending more time with their children. I know we are poised with a certain element of fear wondering how this thing will play out. However, I urge you all to remember that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Let’s make this time sacred. Let us focus on what is before us each day and try to make it special. We can cherish our “staycation” and trust that we will be safe and supported as we make the conscious effort to embrace social distancing. Let’s allow our focus to be on our gratitude for what we do have and for this time to reflect on what is most important to us. Many Blessings to all of you, Dorothy Sprecher P.S. I am also appreciating how far we have come as a culture over the last 100 years. I think of my grandparents and how my grandfather lost his father and 2 of his siblings to Typhoid Fever, a disease we need no longer fear because of vaccines. I think of how his mother and brother died in childbirth. We have come a long way in medicine. I have confidence in our medical system and its ability to rise to our current challenge. |
